A GOOD BRAND IS MORE THAN JUST A LOGO. IT IS A FEELING. A LIVING THING. IT IS OUR EXPERIENCE WITH SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. A GOOD BRAND CREATES AUTHORITY. A GOOD BRAND IS WHEN YOUR AUDIENCE FINALLY "GETS" YOU.

BRANDING 101

Sometimes people confuse the idea of branding with marketing, or even worse, believe that creating a “brand” means hiring a graphic designer to simply develop a logo and plaster it over anything they can get their hands on. Unfortunately, this is how many designers think as well. In reality, branding is not just a marketing term, it is a discipline which requires a certain level of understanding in both your company and yourself.

Branding is creating a foundation, stating who you are, what your business is about, what you have to offer, and how your audience should (or does) perceive you. It all centers around the need to create ‘mindshare,’ that one idea which your brand and only your brand can own conceptually. Conceptual Ownership. Without it, any business or organization will find it increasingly difficult to survive.

Why should I care?
Each day we are inundated with an overwhelming amount of visual information. Countless numbers of brands are competing for your attention. How do you choose? This excess of information was not something to be experienced in years past. Can you remember when the total number of news sources, television stations, and wholesome food choices numbered in the single digits?

Emotional conceptual singularity is so important because it is the way we think, whether we like it or not. An ever-growing number of companies and messages are all vying for our attention. Mindshare is the only way your audience‘s brains will ever have any hope to latch on to what your business and/or product can offer. Successful brands know from the start that they’re not going to get everyone, but they will most definitely capture an audience who thinks the way they do.

Designers' clients need branding discipline more then they need catchy, award-winning design. Having brand discipline and a clear understanding of how it works allows you to become memorable in the eyes of your audience. If our clients already have a strong, memorable brand in place, we need to keep it consistent. Let us help you to develop your brand. Allow us to work with you on terms you are familiar with to gain the mindshare of your audience in the most effective way.
